Bangalore Animal Helpline Numbers and Dog Adoption Guide

We’re often asked by kind hearts regarding Bangalore animal helpline numbers. In this blog post, we’ve tried to aggregate a list of charitable foundations, NGOs, and shelters in Bangalore that you may refer to as a ready reckoner.

Given the traffic woes in Bangalore and the fact that most of these shelters are understaffed, please try to take the injured animal to the nearest facility. If possible, please try to comfort the animal in need and provide first aid, and care till the ambulance arrives.

Keep these rescue numbers in your pocket. Join the Pack, our free newsletter, and download the Pocket Rescue Directory — verified animal helplines for every Indian city in one file, plus our best rescue stories and updates. Get it free →

Bangalore animal helpline numbers (24×7 emergency)

If you have found an injured, sick or abandoned animal anywhere in the city, these are the Bangalore animal helpline numbers worth saving to your phone right now. Most of these animal rescue helplines in Bangalore offer pickup, ambulance support and basic veterinary care, and several run 24×7. Call the one nearest to you, describe the animal’s condition clearly, and share the exact location with a landmark so the team can reach it without losing time.

One thing before you call: if the injury looks serious, do not wait for a callback. If you can safely do so, take the animal straight to the nearest vet yourself. It may cost a little, but it can be the difference between life and death.

This isn’t an exhaustive list – if you know of any other Bangalore animal helpline – individuals or organizations doing some phenomenal work for the stray cats or dogs, please suggest in the comments below.

How to adopt a dog in Bangalore

Adopting a dog in Bangalore is easier than most people fear, and it usually starts with the same shelters and NGOs listed above. Many of them always have indie dogs, puppies and rehomed pets waiting, far more than they have homes to offer. Here is how the process typically works.

  1. Pick a shelter or rescue from the list above and reach out. Tell them what suits your home, whether that is an energetic pup, a calm older dog, or simply whoever needs you most.
  2. Meet the dogs in person. Visit the shelter or a foster home. A few minutes with a dog tells you far more than any photo can.
  3. Expect a simple screening. Most Bangalore shelters ask a few questions, and some do a quick home check, to be sure each dog goes to a safe and committed home.
  4. Complete the formalities. This is usually a short adoption form and a small donation that goes straight back into rescue work.
  5. Ask about the essentials before you leave. Check the dog’s vaccination and deworming status, whether it has been sterilised, the right diet for the first few weeks, and who to call if you need help settling in.

If you would rather begin online, follow Dog with Blog’s adoption updates on Instagram, or open the NGOs listed above like CUPA to see dogs currently up for adoption in Bangalore. And please, adopt, don’t shop. The indie waiting on a street corner makes just as loyal a companion as any pedigree, and you free up a shelter spot for the next rescue.

How to report an injured or stray dog in Bangalore

If you spot an injured, sick or distressed animal on the streets of Bangalore, acting quickly and calmly gives it the best chance.

  1. Call a verified 24×7 helpline from the list above, choosing the one nearest to where the animal is.
  2. Describe the situation clearly: the animal’s condition, whether it can stand or walk, and any visible injuries.
  3. Share the exact location with a landmark, shop name or map pin so rescuers do not lose time finding it.
  4. Stay nearby if it is safe. A frightened animal often hides, and your presence helps the team locate it.
  5. Do not move a badly injured animal unless it is in immediate danger, such as lying in traffic. Handling a fracture or spinal injury wrongly can do more harm than the accident did.

While you wait, you can offer a little water, but hold off on food in case the animal needs surgery. If the case is serious and no helpline is reachable, take it to the nearest vet yourself if you safely can. It also helps to know your rights: cruelty to animals is an offence under Indian law, so you can involve the police if an animal has been deliberately harmed. See our guide to animal laws in India.
