Six individual rescuers have posted litters and strays through our own listings since March, proof the demand is real even without a shelter network behind it. Now there is one.

Founded in Indore in 2022 by two friends, Tejaswini Gulati and Devansh Hablani, Vale of Dogs runs daily feeding across 15 locations in the city, a 24×7 emergency rescue response, and a dedicated adoption program. They have rescued 70+ dogs and currently shelter 50+, serving 200+ meals a day.

Run by Vaishali Shah, an architect by profession who took up stray rescue after witnessing a dog hit by a car in 2006. Since then AWRS has treated more than 10,000 stray and abandoned animals.

Adopting a dog in Indore usually starts with the shelters and rescues listed above.

• Pick a shelter or rescue from the list and reach out. Tell them what suits your home, a playful pup, a calm older dog, or simply whoever needs you most.

• Share the exact location with a landmark or map pin so rescuers don’t lose time.
• Stay nearby if it’s safe. A frightened animal often hides, and your presence helps the rescue team find it.
• Don’t move a badly injured animal unless it’s in immediate danger. Handling a fracture or spinal injury wrongly can do more harm than the accident did.
