How to report an injured stray in Mumbai
If you find an injured or distressed animal in Mumbai, acting fast gives it the best chance.
- Call or WhatsApp an NGO from the list above, choosing one that covers your area; several work specific suburbs.
- Share your exact live location on WhatsApp, plus a short video of the animal’s injury.
- Say whether the animal can stand or walk, so they know what to send.
- Stay nearby if it is safe until the rescue team or ambulance arrives.
- For a badly hurt animal that must be moved, call one of the private animal ambulances listed below.
Bitten by a stray, or found a bite victim in Mumbai?
A dog or animal bite is a medical emergency. Wash the wound under running water with soap for 15 minutes, then see a doctor the same day for an anti-rabies vaccine. For medical help, call 108. To report the dog so it can be checked and sterilised, contact the BMC or an NGO above. Do not wait, rabies is almost always fatal once symptoms appear, but entirely preventable with prompt vaccination.

We have recently discovered a set of female puppies who are used for breeding and been raped I guess. We had found a small Shihtzu who unknowingly ran away from the breeders place and ended up in our society. Dog lovers thought that it was a lost pup, hence we took her to vet directly, got all her ticks cleaned and while getting her back, the owner called saying that it’s his dog. The dogs are purely used for breeding and been kept in the worse condition
