Before you adopt a dog – Promises that you must keep
There would be times when you would come across incidents where a dog has been abandoned by a family. The reason may be because of an injury the dog suffered, a disease that he caught, re-location of the family because of job changes etc. If you divulge into the deeper details, all these are merely lame excuses. If you get a dog, remember it’s family! And you don’t really shun a family member on the above accounts. It’s rather better to not have adopted a pet than to treat him as a commodity destined for the same fate as that of a tawdry fashion item. My nostrils flare when such gross news are reported. Please understand that it’s a beating heart full of love, loyalty & friendship that you have adopted. There are responsibilties that you must live upto. Please, remember that you are the harbinger of joy and the elixir of life for the muted species.

Lessons from the dog!
For long dogs have been falsely accused of eating the homework, we don’t really mind it as long as it saves our young friends from the teacher’s ire 🙂 Good old Calvin had quipped, “I go to school, but I never learn what I want to know.” I have always believed that teaching isn’t restricted to classrooms and lectures, the real learning happen in the open world. Is there something like Animal Intelligence?

Animals are smarter than most of us think them to be. Animals have always had intellectual abilities however what fauna friends refer to as intelligence might be entirely different from human definitions. It’s like searching for life in far off galaxies, but then life forms in a particular planet may be in contrast with what we have here. To us motion, respiration, activity etc. might be vital signs of life but who knows if for a green alien in Mars life means being in vegetative state? Similar is the quest for animal intelligence and as far as I am concerned I never had a doubt about it.
