“I regret that it takes a life to learn how to live.”
— Jonathan Safran Foer (Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close)
Another year passes by— seasons swept, lessons learnt, pains endured and pleasures pined. The year that was witnessed some sweeping changes; the world’s most wanted fugitive isn’t Osama bin Laden anymore, no more is there that longing for the next of the Harry Potter movies. And no longer is the dog a man’s best friend (personal computer has won over the dog). Now I know the reason behind this brouhaha about the world coming to an end.
The incessant noise of life; shrill as dynamite, subtle as a cat’s walk. Clutter of cacophony that chokes. Engulfing yet another iota of innocence lost to workplace cynicism.
Plotting a blueprint for life, we miss out on the pleasures of today.
As we embrace the unique bond with our canine friends, January unfolds as a canvas of fresh beginnings. What better way to paint it than by setting resolutions tailored for our four-legged pals? Here are five paw-sitively fantastic resolutions to ensure a year brimming with health and happiness for your dog:
New year resolutions for pet parents
Resolution 1: Trim Down Together Overweight dogs face potential health issues. Incorporate daily 30-minute walks and engaging games of fetch into your routine. For a personalized eating plan, consult your vet – a step toward a healthier, happier life.
Resolution 2: Teach an Old Dog New Tricks Mental stimulation is key for our furry friends. Dive into the joy of teaching them a new trick. Start with simplicity, embrace patience, and don’t skimp on the treats – a recipe for mental well-being.
Resolution 3: Redirect Chewing Habits Understanding why your dog chews is crucial. Positively redirect their attention, supervise their activities, and create a chew-friendly environment for a harmonious coexistence.
Resolution 4: Water Playtime Introduce your water-reluctant pup to aquatic delights gradually. Begin with a kiddie pool, maintain a pressure-free environment, and respect their pace as they dip their paws into the world of water play.
Resolution 5: Pet-Friendly Travel Plans Embark on pet-friendly road trips, creating memories with your furry co-pilot. Pack essentials, ensure your pup is an exemplary guest, and revel in the joy of a journey as delightful as the destination.
This coming year, may you wander off the paved road and follow that inherent dream. For it takes but a twitch to recapture that forgotten child-like wonder. The revelry of the sight of confetti and crumbled gift wraps on floor. Sometimes the rustle of a leaf is louder than the roar of an engine.
I hope you hear it.
Wishing all readers a Happy New Year!
