In October 2018 the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation opened a fenced park of about 1.3 acres in Gachibowli for dogs, charged owners ₹10 at the gate and called it India’s first. Eight years later it is still the only public dog park in the ten cities on this page with a fee, opening hours and 2025 visitor reviews to show dogs are using it. Mumbai’s Juhu Pet Park opened in February 2025 and hasn’t published any of those.
Delhi built one at Jangpura in 2023 and is still looking for someone to run it. Mumbai finished a dog park in Worli and, as of April 2024, it had never opened because the BMC refused to take it over. Pune, Chennai and Lucknow have plots, designs or tenders.
So when you look for dog parks in India, the honest answer in most cities is a private play area you pay for, a public park that lets leashed dogs in, or nothing yet. This page sorts out which is which, city by city, with the date of the newest evidence we found for each place.

How to read it: Open means we found dated 2025 or 2026 evidence of the park in use. Unverified means it opened at some point but nothing recent turned up. Planned means it exists on paper or as a locked site, and None means the city has no public dog park at all. Fees and hours change, so call or check the venue’s own Instagram before you drive across town with a dog in the back seat.

Hyderabad: the one city-run dog park that is open
The GHMC Dog Park sits on DLF Road in Jayabheri Enclave, Gachibowli, and the press usually files it under Kondapur, near the Radisson. It has separate enclosures for small and big dogs, a splash pool, lawns and an amphitheatre, and in October 2024 GHMC added a tunnel, a crawl ladder, a bridge ramp, a beam and a balance house to the older ramps and see-saws.

Visitor reviews from July and August 2025 put entry at about ₹50 a person, up from ₹10 at launch. Google’s listing gives the hours as 6 to 10 am and 4 to 10 pm. Only vaccinated, well-behaved dogs are allowed in, and the ground is artificial turf, so pick up after your dog. One reviewer in August 2025 complained about upkeep and mosquitoes, which is worth knowing if you are planning an evening visit.
If you were thinking of KBR National Park instead: since June 2025 only licensed pet dogs are allowed in, on the GHMC Commissioner’s orders. Our dog licence guide covers how to get one. Hyderabad’s informal Sunday meet-ups on Necklace Road were last written about in 2016, so we can’t tell you whether they still happen. If you are looking to adopt in the city rather than find somewhere to run a dog you already have, start with dog adoption in Hyderabad.
Delhi NCR
What MCD and the press call Delhi’s first dedicated pet park, 1.5 acres near the Jangpura and Defence Colony flyover, was finished in 2023 and has sat idle while MCD looked for an operator. MCD put out a five-year operator tender for what it calls the MCD-CONCOR Pet Park in April 2026 and again in May (bids closed on 17 June), and says the park will open later this year, for registered and vaccinated pet dogs only. As of October 2026 we found no report of an operator being chosen.
The plan includes play and exercise zones, a swimming area, a vet clinic and grooming. Register your dog with MCD now and you will be ready on day one.
Until then, the most reliable public option is Sunder Nursery in Nizamuddin. Its own visitor rules allow dogs on a leash, asks you to keep them away from the water bodies and the wilderness zone and to pick up after them, and warns that off-leash dogs may be turned away. Adult tickets are ₹50.
Lodhi Garden is listed as leash-friendly by almost every Delhi guide, but we could not find an NDMC rule to point you to, so treat that as custom rather than policy. The smaller pet park that the then North Delhi Municipal Corporation, now part of MCD, opened in Old Rajinder Nagar in November 2021 has no newer official record that we could find.
Gurugram has no civic dog park. The private Tail Club on Raisina Road in Sector 59 runs morning and evening sessions from Tuesday to Sunday on about an acre of off-leash lawn and asks for a vaccination certificate. Elsa’s Dog Park & Cakery near Palda Dhaani opens Wednesday to Sunday. Neither publishes a fee, so ask when you call.
Noida Authority opened a dog park next to the Sector 137 Aqua Line station on 1 June 2023, with walking paths, a pool and a canteen. By August 2023 some of those amenities still weren’t working, and we found no news report from 2025 or 2026. Two listing sites in 2026 give its hours as 6 am to noon and 5 to 10 pm and say your dog must be registered on the Noida Authority’s NAPR app to get in, but they disagree on whether entry is free.
Mumbai
Juhu Pet Park, on Juhu Beach opposite the Novotel, was inaugurated on 10 February 2025, according to local MLA Ameet Satam, on a BMC garden that had turned into a dump, and was built with his local area funds. It has slides and play zones. No timings, fees or rules have been published anywhere we looked, which is odd for a park this new and a good reason to phone the ward office first.
The BMC dog park on Hind Cycle Road in Worli is the cautionary tale. It was finished in 2023, and in April 2024 it was still shut because the BMC had refused the handover. We found no report since then saying it has opened.
In Bandra, the residents’ trust that looks after the Bandstand promenade has kept a “No Pets” rule there for years. In April 2026 the BMC took down anti-pet hoardings after complaints, and the trust and the BMC each said the other had put them up. Yari Road and Carter Road pet spots appear in older guides, but nothing recent confirms them.
Bengaluru
Bengaluru has no municipal dog park. What it has is rules. After the Karnataka High Court took up the issue in December 2021, Cubbon Park’s guidelines set a leash of no more than six feet, barred “ferocious and larger breed” dogs, required owners to carry a scoop and to show rabies vaccination records on request.
A full pet ban proposed in June 2022 was put on hold after protests, and we found no official update since. Lalbagh does not allow pets at all: “entry of pets” is on the list of ₹500 fines the state government notified for the garden in November 2025.
Cubbon Park is still the one big green space in central Bengaluru where you can walk a leashed dog, within those rules. For more room, Central Park and Neralu Organic Orchards are worth the drive, though both are a fair way from the core city. Most neighbourhood parks don’t let dogs in at all, usually over worries about mess or bites. The open maidan in Defence Colony, Indiranagar, is an option, but if people are walking or children are playing there, expect someone to object.
The paid options are private. Petboro Dog Park off Varthur in Whitefield is a fenced agility yard with booked sessions, and Mac’s Dog Park opposite the Marathahalli flyover charges a small fee for about an hour off-leash. Both are listed in 2024 and 2026 guides with hours that disagree with each other, so check on the day.
Pune
Pimpri-Chinchwad got there first. The PCMC dog park near Govind Chowk in Pimple Saudagar opened on 14 January 2024 with off-leash zones split by size, water points, a trainer for four hours a day and a corner for dog birthday parties, open 6 to 10 am and 5 to 9 pm. PCMC announced a ₹20 fee per person and dog for each session, but we couldn’t confirm it was ever charged, and we found no reports from 2025 or 2026, so check it is still running.
Pune Municipal Corporation itself has been trying since March 2023. Katraj was rejected by the Central Zoo Authority, the Aundh site was given to something else, Baner was contested, a plot in Kharadi was identified in June 2025, and in August 2025 PMC’s veterinary department approved a 3-acre park there, to be built in phases with no opening date. That is the last update we found.
Pune’s real advantage is its hills. Dogs go on nature walks up the city’s tekdis: Baner-Pashan, Ghorawadeshwar, Taljai, the ARAI hill in Kothrud, Bavdhan and the hill above the Katraj tunnel bypass. Further out, Kasarsai dam, Sinhagad fort and the Panshet backwaters make good day trips. Go early, carry water for your dog, and keep a leash on near other walkers and livestock.
Chennai
Chennai has no public dog park. The Greater Chennai Corporation shared a design for a pets park at D’Monte Colony off TTK Road, Alwarpet, in February 2025, and a Tamil Nadu scheme to have NGOs run pet parks in Chennai and Coimbatore closed applications on 26 February 2026. Neither has opened.
The rules in public places changed recently. After a Madras High Court case in November 2025, muzzles are no longer required for every dog, though leashes in public still are. From 20 December 2025, buying or newly keeping a Pitbull or Rottweiler carries a ₹1 lakh fine. For off-leash time, the options are private: day-care resorts such as Top Dog Resort at Uthandi on ECR, which checks vaccination and tick-treatment records at the gate.
Kolkata
HIDCO built Bengal’s first pet park in May 2019, a netted strip of about 400 metres beside the Rosedale complex in New Town’s Action Area III, and handed its upkeep to residents. We found nothing newer about it. Nearby, NKDA runs a dog crèche, clinic and cemetery with published fees: ₹300 for four hours of day-care, ₹500 for eight, and a vet certificate plus vaccination record at admission, according to NKDA. KMC runs no dog park.
Lucknow
The LDA tendered a 10-acre dog park at CG City in Gomti Nagar Extension in June 2022, with a pool, a vet clinic and a food court on the drawings, and an LDA official said entry would need a dog licence. In January 2025 it was still under development.
A local guide from March 2026 says Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Park keeps dogs off its main lawns but allows them on the outer walking paths. Lucknow Municipal Corporation charges ₹200 a year to licence an Indian breed and ₹1,000 for a foreign one, and set a ₹5,000 fine for unlicensed dogs before going house to house to check in July 2025.
Before you take an adopted indie to a dog park
Nearly every park above asks for one thing at the gate: a vaccination record. Delhi’s Jangpura park and Hyderabad’s KBR also want a municipal licence. If your dog came from a rescuer, ask for the vaccination card at handover, and check it against the dog vaccination schedule before your first visit. The licence comes after, and most cities now let you apply online.
If you are still looking for a dog, the dogs and cats listed for adoption in Hyderabad, Delhi NCR, Bengaluru and Mumbai are updated as rescuers post them.
We will update this page when Jangpura opens, and post it the same day on our WhatsApp channel, which you can follow from our contact page. If you use a dog park we have missed, or one of these has closed, tell us and we will check it.
