Ever felt the pangs of long distance asphyxiating your love?
Across seas, oceans or continents that what keeps love alive is love itself. It needs no reason other than that. At times, it doesn’t even require words.
German Flight attendant Olivia Sievers travels frequently to Argentina for work. On one such trip, she met a friendly stray dog near her hotel. She offered him food and they played awhile. Taking pity on the pup, whom she named Rubio, Olivia gave him an airline blanket to keep warm in at night.
When Olivia returned home, she didn’t believe she’d see Rubio again. However, when she was in Buenos Aires the next time for work, staying at the same hotel, Rubio appeared at the door to greet her for a cuddle.
“I tried to change my way because I didn’t want [him to] follow me back to the hotel. But it was not possible. He always came back and followed me. I tried one hour, but he always watched me and followed me. He was really happy that somebody gave him attention.”
As Olivia flew back and forth for work over the course of following months, Rubio continued to wait out front patiently for their next date.
But still she always had to leave him.
The hotel manager informally took him in, but he needed a real home. Olivia then made arrangements with a rescue group to adopt Rubio but he escaped and made his way back to the hotel.
Seeing Rubio’s determination, Olivia too made up her mind to take him home to Germany. She filled out the necessary paperwork and Rubio is now in Germany 🙂
Half a world away, the love and dedication of a poor stray dog eventually led to a sweet homecoming. All dogs deserve a loving home-like Rubio. You can be a hero too, adopt or rescue a dog today.
