The story

Penny is a 1-year-old female tabby cat based in Pune. She is litter trained, dewormed, vaccinated and sterilised, and her rescuers describe her as extremely friendly and easy to handle. She can travel to Mumbai and Bangalore for the right adopter.

For now she needs to be the first and only cat. With patience she can live with another cat later and does well with younger kittens, but an adult cat is a hit or a miss. She is fine alone for a few hours of work time, sleeps through most afternoons and suits a work-from-home adopter. She has always been an indoor cat and needs access to the whole house, not one room.

She is playful, with a catnip mouse, feather toys, balls and cat trees and shelves for company, since she loves heights. She is a cat TV lover and can be a night owl, but she settles when the house sleeps. Her adopter needs to play with her before and after office hours. She eats Smylo wet food twice a day and Royal Canin dry food at lunch, and her rescuers want someone who keeps that diet or moves to equally good food and keeps her litter box and bowls clean. Expect 2 to 3 days for her to decompress and about a week to settle.

Penny was rescued last Diwali after firecrackers separated her from her mother. She was adopted in March, but the adopters did not look after her and she ran away twice, so the rescuers took her back. They are cat rescuers who cannot keep every cat they pull in. Penny suits first-time adopters or people with cat experience. Adoption formalities are mandatory, and they want serious adopters who can commit for her whole life.
