The story

Someone picked Tara up with her four kittens and dumped them far from the neighbourhood they knew. She walked the whole way back carrying the one kitten still alive, sick and starving, to the same place that had thrown her out, and hid him inside a duct.

She was pulled out on 24 July: skin and bones, dehydrated, bringing up everything she swallowed. Her bloodwork showed infection and inflammation. It took days of IV fluids, antibiotics, anti-vomiting medication, pain relief and deworming before she turned the corner. During the rescue she and her kitten were separated, and neither of them would eat until they were put back together. He died recently. All four of her babies are gone.

Street cats fight when you treat them, and nobody would have held it against her. She sat through four injections, tablets, an IV line and days of strangers picking her up every few hours without a hiss, and she has not scratched or bitten anyone since the day she came in. Once the handling was over she would push her head into your palm.

She is fully recovered now: eating well, active, litter trained, happy to be picked up and carried around. She greets whoever walks in and asks for nothing except someone sitting near her. What she needs is a home where nobody moves her again.
