Of Vatican city dog and the Pope

Amid the chiming bells at Vatican city, I asked the lady at the counter, “Ciao signora, No takers for doggo calendars?”

She smiled and said, “They are more famous than Pope, you see.. theirs is the third set I have unwrapped since morning.

And even Papa Francesco seemed to smile upon hearing that.⠀⠀⠀⠀

The Vatican city dog

In 2014, while comforting a boy whose dog had died, Pope Francis — who took his papal name from the patron saint of animals, St. Francis of Assisi, said, “One day, we will see our animals again in the eternity of Christ. Paradise is open to all of God’s creatures.”

Far beyond the realms of religion, we believe that if there’s any heaven, we will meet all our doggo friends there! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
