In an ideal world, every dog would have a home. But then we don’t live in an ideal world. Try telling that to Sasa Pejčić of Serbia. In a city (Niš, Serbia) where living conditions of stray dogs is deplorable – deadly streets or violent dogcatchers, Sasa didn’t wait for the government, the NGOs or shelters, this dog lover sparked a change on his own. How one man saved 450 homeless dogs
Sasa turned a former equestrian club stable into a heaven for the stray dogs he rescues from the streets. The Harmony Fund is an incredible sanctuary. It’s not because of the number of homeless dogs that live there, but how they live! All of the 450 dogs are vaccinated and micro-chipped; loved and cared for. Instead of living in locked cages or kennels in a warehouse, the dogs are free all day to play around, and just living life. This heartwarming initiative has found takers in the city dwellers and many of them are provided for by kind humans.
Till the dogs get adopted, they play on the property and receive belly rubs and tons of love from Sasa. They spend their nights sleeping inside, where they are warm and safe. Currently, 88 of the dogs have sponsors who help cover their care.
The Harmony Fund released this heartwarming video of the dogs playing in the sanctuary to raise awareness about Sasa’s work and encourage people to donate to his efforts and help him save the lives of these once-abandoned dogs.
Thank you, Sasa for making us all warm and fuzzy but more importantly for bringing hope, happiness, and home to these dogs!

Hi! I love your blog. I am Shonamoni, I was adopted 8 years back when I was hit by the car. I was a month old puppy then and wondered away from my mother and lost my way in the bylanes. I have two sisters who were also rescued and adopted when their mother disappeared. We love our home and our humans but we are very worried about our cousins who have not found a loving home like us. We hear that they are being killed indiscriminately here in Kerala. We were somewhat relieved to hear that the Supreme Court of India has strictly forbidden indiscriminate killing of street dogs. We are keeping our paws crossed and praying everyday for our cousins’ well being because some humans in Kerala are very cruel. They have even formed an organization to kill all street dogs and supposedly make Kerala street dog free. Sigh….OK bye for now. Will ask granny to read out our blog to us regularly.
